Vision Statement

The Greater Anaheim Special Education Local Plan Area (SELPA) is dedicated to enriching the lives of students with exceptional needs so that they complete their education prepared for adult life and become contributing members of their community.

Mission Statement

The Greater Anaheim SELPA will develop, implement, monitor, and support appropriate programs and services for individuals with exceptional needs through collaborative and effective leadership and support to local school districts, families and agencies within the Greater Anaheim SELPA.

Guiding Principles

The Greater Anaheim SELPA will assume a leadership and support role in providing a free, appropriate public education to students with disabilities in the least restrictive environment. The Guiding Principles are as follows:

Regional Programs

Provide direct support and guidance to school districts in the coordination, development, and implementation of regionalized programs and services.

Training and Staff Development

Support quality in special education programs by providing opportunities for professional growth and community training.

Technical Support

Provide consultative and representative support to school districts, families, and community agencies.

Fiscal Support

Evaluate cost effective utilization of available resources and monitor special education expenditures and revenues.

Legal Support

Provide leadership and support to assist school districts in maintaining compliance with state and federal laws.
