Board Meeting Highlights

June 21, 2017

Item 6 (a-b): Board Members presented Mrs. Patricia Polcyn, Greater Anaheim SELPA Lead Occupational Therapist, with the annual “Outstanding Services to Students with Special Needs Award”.

Item 8 (c): Board Members were provided with copies of the agendas for the June, 2017 State SELPA meetings. Board Members were also provided with copies of the June, 2017 State SELPA Committee Summaries.

Item 8 (d)(1): For informational purposes only, Board Members were provided a copy of the Fiscal Report – State Budget Negotiations in High Gear.

Item 8 (e)(1): Board Members reviewed the School Services of California – Legislative Report dated May 26, 2017.

Item 8 (f): For informational purposes, Board Members were provided with the schedule of dates for the 2017-18 Parent Trainings – Introduction to Special Education.

Item 8 (g): Board Members reviewed a listing of the Staff Development and/or Trainings that GASELPA staff members had provided during the months of April, May and June, 2017.

Item 9 (a): Board Members were provided an update on the new Disproportionality reports specific to special education.

Item 9 (b): Board Members were updated on a new grant that the GASELPA will be awarded in 2017-18 – Alternative Dispute Resolution Program Grant.

Item 9 (c): Board Members reviewed and discussed the Greater Anaheim SELPA Behavioral Support & Intervention Academy that will be available to member district general education teachers in 2017-18.

Item 9 (d): Board Members were updated on a two-day inservice being held on July 31st and August 1st for GASELPA ABA Facilitators regarding Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training.

Item 9 (e): For information purposes only, Board Members were provided the dates of the remaining 2017 GASELPA Board Meeting dates.

Item 10 (a-ah): Board Members took action on warrants, personnel items and contracts.

Item 11(a): Board Members took action on Board Resolution 258-2017 authorizing the County Superintendent to make transfers between reserve and any expenditure classifications to permit payment of obligations.

Item 11(b): Board Members took action on authorizing the Executive Director and the Director of Business Operations to receive documents from School Financial Services (OCDE).

Item 11(c): Board Members’ took action on two Greater Anaheim SELPA Adapted PE Specialists 2017-18 work year to accommodate member districts Extended School Year (ESY) needs.

Item 11(d): Board Members’ took action on one Vision Paraprofessional 2017-18 work year to accommodate member districts Extended School Year (ESY) needs.

Item 11(e): Board Members took action on the Executive District 2017-18 travel/conference expenditures.

Item 11(f): Public Hearing regarding the 2017-18 Annual Budget Plan.

Item 11(g): Public Hearing regarding the 2017-18 Annual Service Plan.

Item 11(h): Public Hearing regarding the 2017-18 GASELPA Annual Budget.

Item 12: Closed Session regarding the Executive Director evaluation.
