Board Meeting Highlights

May 1, 2017

Item 6 (a-b): The Community Advisory Committee (CAC) Recognition Awards and Reception were held.

Item 8 (c): Board Members were provided with copies of the agendas for the April, 2017 State SELPA meetings. Board Members were also provided with copies of the April, 2017 State SELPA Committee Summaries.

Item 8 (d) (1): For informational purposes only, Board Members were provided a calculation as to how much the 40% underfunding of the Federal Local Assistance allocation is to individual SELPA’s within California.

Item 8 (e)(1): For informational purposes only, Board Members were provided with a copy of a letter sent by Dr. Lavigne on behalf of the GASELPA supporting AB 312 (O’Donnell) Special Education Finance.

Item 8 (f): Board Members discussed the CAC Recognition Awards ceremony that had been held during tonight’s Board Meeting.

Item 8 (g): Board Members reviewed a listing of the Staff Development and/or Trainings that GASELPA staff members had provided during the month of March, 2017.

Item 9 (a): Board Members reviewed a joint letter sent to Governor Edmund G. Brown, Assembly Member Anthony Rendon, Senator Kevin de Leon and the Honorable Tom Torlakson, regarding “Comments Regarding Recommendations Contained in the 2016 Public Policy Institute of California and 2015 California Special Education Task Force Reports Regarding Special Education Finance”.

Item 9 (b): Board Members reviewed and discussed a draft of the Executive Director Annual Review.

Item 9 (c): Board Members discussed the Outstanding Service to Students with Special Needs Award that will be awarded during the June 21, 2017 Board Meeting.

Item 9 (d): Board Members reviewed a letter from the Orange County Department of Education agreeing with the positive certification of the Greater Anaheim SELPA 2nd Interim report.

Item 9 (e): Board Members reviewed prototypes of possible new logos for the GASELPA.

Item 10 (a-f): Board Members took action on warrants, personnel items and contracts.

Item 11(a): Board Members took action on the Independent Contractor Agreement with Therapy Travelers.

Item 11(b): Board Members took action on establishing a Part-Time Administrative Assistant position.

Item 11(c): Board Members took action on the hiring of a Part-Time Administrative Assistant.

Item 11(d): Board Members took action on establishing a Director of Business Operations classification on the Greater Anaheim SELPA Classified Salary Schedule.

Item 11(e): Board Members took action on the Director of Business Operations Employment Contract.

Item 11(f): Board Members took action on the Executive Director’s Employment Contract.

Item 11(g): Board Members took action on the hiring of an Administrative Assistant.
