Board Meeting Highlights

June 27, 2018

Item 7(c): Board Members were provided with copies of the agendas for the June 2018 State SELPA meetings. Board Members were also provided with copies of the June 2018 State SELPA Committee Summaries.

Item 7(d)(1): Board Members were provided copies of letters sent to Senator McGuire, Senator Wilk, Senator Allen, Senator Galgiani, Senator Leyva, Senator Pan, Senator Vidak, and Governor Brown supporting AB 3136 (O’Donnell) As Amended April 23, 2018.

Item 7(d)(2): For informational purposes only, Board Members were provided with a Compilation of SSC Fiscal Report Articles relative to the 2018-19 State Budget.

Item 7(e): Board Members reviewed the School Services of California/Coalition for Adequate Funding for Special Education – Legislative Report dated May 23, 2018.

Item 7(f): Community Advisory Committee (CAC) – no items to report this Board meeting.

Item 7(g): Board Members reviewed a listing of the Trainings/Staff Developments that were conducted by GASELPA staff members during the months of April, May and June 2018.

Item 8(a): Board Members discussed the Anaheim Union High School District’s (GASELPA Administrative Unit) approved salary increase.

Item 8(b): Board Members were provided an update on the status of GASELPA department/programs and staff.

Item 8(c): Board Members were provided a brief update on the State PTA Conference held in April 2018.

Item 8(d): Board Members were updated on the GASELPA Business meeting that was held June 8, 2018.

Item 8(e): Board Members reviewed a letter from Mr. Dean West, Orange County Department of Education, Associate Superintendent, Business Services, regarding the Orange County Department of Education acceptance of the Greater Anaheim SELPA 2017-18 Second Interim Report.

Item 8(f): Board Members discussed a GASELPA staff training that will be held on July 31, 2018 on CPR/First Aid.

Item 8(g): For information purposes only, Board Members were provided with a listing of the remaining 2018 GASELPA Board Meeting dates.

Item 9(a-ac): Board Members took action on warrants, personnel items and contracts.

Items 10(a-b): Board Members took action on the Independent Contractor Agreements with Western Youth Services.

Item 10(c): Board Members took action on the Monthly Rental Agreement with Spectrum Business Centers.

Item 10(d): Board Members took action on the Service Agreement with Paradigm Healthcare.

Item 10(e-g): Board Members took action on a 1% Cost of Living increase for all certificated, classified and contracted employees, effective July 1, 2017.

Item 10(h): Board Members took action on Board Resolution 260-2018.

Item 10(i): Board Members took action on authorizing the Executive Director and Director of Business Operations to receive payroll, vendor checks or other documents from the Orange County Department of Education.

Item 10(j): Board Members took action on the hiring of B. Rodriguez as a GASELPA Program Specialist.

Item 10(k): Board Members took action on the hiring of J. Salmons as a GASELPA Program Specialist.

Item 10(m): Board Members took action on the hiring of S. Kerekes as an Adaptive PE

(APE) Specialist.

Item 10(n-o): Board Members took action on 2 APE Specialists and 1 Vision Paraprofessional to extend their work year to accommodate member districts Extended School Year (ESY) needs.

Item 10(p): Board Members took action on the Executive Director’s 2018-19 attendance at monthly and/or annual conferences/meetings and the payment of the necessary expenses.

Item 10(q): Board Members held a Public Hearing and took action on the 2018-19 Greater Anaheim SELPA Annual Budget Plan.

Item 10(r): Board Members held a Public Hearing and took action on the 2018-19 Greater Anaheim SELPA Annual Service Plan.

Item 10(s): Board Members held a Public Hearing and took action on the 2018-19 Annual Budget.
