Board Meeting Highlights

September 20, 2017

Item 7 (c):  Board Members were provided with copies of the agendas for the September, 2017 State SELPA meetings.  Board Members were also provided with copies of the September, 2017 State SELPA Committee Summaries.

Item 7 (d)(1):  Board Members were updated on the 2017-18 State Special Education funding.

Item 7 (e)(1):  Board Members reviewed the Coalition for Adequate Funding for Special Education – Legislative Report dated August 31, 2017.

Item 7 (f)(1):  Board Members reviewed a draft of the 2017-18 CAC Calendar of events.

Item 7 (f)(2):  Board Members discussed the 2017-18 Recognition Awards evening.

Item 7 (g):  Board Members reviewed a listing of the GASELPA Trainings/Staff Developments that were held during the months of July and August 2017.

Item 8 (a):  Board Members were provided an update on the California Department of Education – Compliance Reviews currently being conducted.  

Item 8 (b):  Board Members were provided a brief update on the current discussions regarding North Orange County (NOC) SELPA Equalization.  

Item 8 (c):  Board Members were updated on the Board Policies that were planned to  be reviewed and/or implemented during 2017-18.

Item 8 (d)(1):  Board Members were updated on a two-day inservice held on July 31st and August 1st for GASELPA ABA Facilitators regarding Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training.  

Item 8 (d)(2):  For informational purposes only, Board Members received a listing of the 2017-18 Training Opportunities available for ABA Facilitators.

Item 8 (e):  Board Members reviewed a letter from Mr. Dean West, Associate Superintendent, Business Services, Orange County Department of Education regarding the Orange County Department of Education acceptance of the Greater Anaheim SELPA 2017-18 Adopted Budget.

Item 8 (f):  Board Members reviewed the 2017-18 Greater Anaheim SELPA Organizational Chart as of August 2017.

Item 8 (g):  Board Members discussed the 2017-18 GASELPA Board Program visits.

Item 8 (h):  Board Members reviewed and discussed the draft of the Executive Directors 2017-18 Goals.

Item 9 (a-i):  Board Members took action on warrants, personnel items and contracts.

Item 10(a):  Board Members took action on the hiring of A. Sellers, Greater Anaheim SELPA Program Specialist.

Item 10(b):  Board Members took action on the Independent Contractor Agreement with Debbie Roxax.

Item 10(c):  Board Members took action with the Independent Contractor Agreement with Gunn Psychological Services.

Item 10 (d):  Board Members took action on the Independent Contractor Agreement with Hollar Speech and Language Services.

Item 10 (e):  Board Members took action on the Independent Contractor Agreement with MyTherapyCompany.

Item 10 (f):  Board Members took action on Amendment #1 of the Independent Contractor Agreement with MyTherapyCompany.

Item 10 (g):  Board Members took action on the redesigned GASELPA Logo.

Item 10 (h):  Board Members took action on the 2016-17 Unaudited Actuals Financial Report pursuant to Education Code sections 41023 and 42100.
